Mission Statement

The Stoners' Serenade is an on-air jam band radio show heard from noon til 2 pm Sundays online here and over the airwaves on WQFS 90.9 fm, Guilford College radio in Greensboro,N.C. WQFS consistently ranks among the top 10 independent college radio stations in the country, according to the Princeton Review. I have set up this page to provide play-lists from the show and links to bands and events. I hope it is helpful.

I'm Back And I'm Still Pissed Off

After several disappointing attempts to create a larger music venue in the Triad (Remember the Aquarius Music Hall? Anybody?), our two best music venues are getting new buildings. The Blind Tiger opens their new house on Spring Garden St. New Year's Eve with a visit by Toubab Krewe. Ziggy's, after even the most optimistic of us (and that would be me) had given up on them, are building a new house at Trade and 9th still on schedule to open in March 2011. No shows announced for Ziggy's yet, but Doc at The Blind Tiger is bringing in some big names including Donna The Buffalo and Ivan Neville. Details on the Shows and Festivals page.

Back when I started the Stoners' Serenade in 2000, there were only two shows in the southeast playing that kind of music; the Dunhams in Atlanta (who have disappeared from the face of the Earth) and Wildman Steve in Auburn. The Wildman has started an internet radio channel he calls, with all his usual modesty, Wildman Steve Radio . Check it out.
